ELOPING AT THE CAPE IN CABO SAN LUCAS

Eloping in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is the best decision we've ever made!!! It was so easy and completely STRESS FREE!!! The event coordinator at The Cape hotel did everything. She coordinated flowers, hair, make up, officiant, photography, videography, music, post-ceremony dinner...EVERYTHING! I literally just picked from pictures and vendors she emailed and showed up with my wedding dress and future husband!

Why did we choose to elope in Cabo? I always wanted to have a destination wedding somewhere fabulous in Europe. A beautiful castle or gorgeous quaint city. Think Sevilla, Florence, Tuscany, Palma de Mallorca, Positano, Capri, etc. But that was out of the question given the Covid restrictions and vaccine requirements at the time. In 2021, most of Europe was still closed to Americans. So, I figured, where can we go that is amazing, could care less about Covid, and will let us live our best life without forcing a damn mask down our throats.....MEXICOOOOO!! Cabo was the obvious choice when we decided on Mexico because the famous arch gave me Capri/Euro vibes.

Why did we choose The Cape as the venue? I spent a lot of time looking at different hotels and venues in Cabo. All of them were really nice but did not make the cut for one reason or another. Some did not have elopement packages and only allowed actual weddings with guests. Others required the ceremony to take place on the actual sand at the beach, which was a big NO for me because for that we would have gotten married at the Keys lol. We wanted the ceremony to be overlooking the arch and beach, but no damn sand on between our toes. We also did not want an all inclusive hotel. The Cape had it all! It had a reasonable elopement package (more on that below), amazing amenities, breathtaking views, gorgeous rooms to choose from, killer ceremony location options, and the perfect modern and youthful vibe! And the service was UNMATCHED!!! From the second I inquired about elopement options, they were extremely responsive, organized and accommodating. If I were a hotel, I'd be The Cape!!! Honestly, we had so many excursions planned while we were in Cabo but cancelled most of them just to hang out at The Cape. **Stay tuned for a separate post on our 8 day itinerary.

Requirements to elope at The Cape? Not much is required. You need to purchase the elopement package plus stay at least 3 nights in the hotel. The elopement package is about $3,500 and includes ceremony location, 1-hour photography, an arch with flowers for the ceremony, officiant, bouquet, boutonniere, and 5 course dinner with wine pairing after the ceremony. For an extra cost, we added an additional hour of photography, videography, live music during the ceremony, hair and make up. We also booked the panoramic room for 4 nights, which was literally TO DIE FOR. The room was pretty pricey (I think $1,200-$1,500 a night), but you have not lived until you've stayed in this room!!! It was worth every single penny!!! The floor to ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the famous arch was everything and more!!! We tried to extend our stay at The Cape, but it was fully booked the rest of the week----SADNESSSSSS! But we are returning yearly like we never left!

Was it weird or sad without family or friends? Absolutely NOT (sorry peeps!). Being alone was probably one of the best parts. We were able to do what we wanted, when we wanted. We did not have to worry about coordinating activities for guests, hosting them, worrying about their budget, taking pictures with them, or making sure no one felt left out. We just focused on being together and having a good time. I initially worried about who would help me get into my wedding dress, but the photographer's assistant and event coordinator were there the entire time to help. They helped me get into my dress, carried my bouquet, and constantly fixed my train and veil. The actual ceremony and vow exchange was very intimate and romantic with just the two of us. We enjoyed not having everyone staring at us or whispering in the background, and did not have to look back and smile at anyone but each other. We were able to really digest the moment. Moral of the story--pull the trigger and elope! Cheesy video and pics to follow! <3
